Linsay & Craig

Linsay’s wedding has been featured on the fabulous We Fell in Love Blog this month so we thought we would share some beautiful images of her Glasgow wedding at West Brewery.

Linsay wore the Melrose Lynette dress from the Sottero & Midgley Amelie collection.

The Melrose Lynette dress is a chic fit-and-flare style featuring a lace illusion train and sleeves. The stunning crosshatch-patterned tulle covering the dress along with the ruched bum detail just makes it that little bit different and Linsay fell in love with the dress almost immediately after trying it on.

She told WFIL ‘My dress was an ivory coloured fit and flare dress. It had gorgeous sleeves that were sheer with lace at the top and at the wrist. The design was so intricate with flowers all over the body. On the skirt there were some gorgeous patterns that reminded me of a paisley pattern.

I tried on around 30 dresses and was nearly settling for something I wasn’t really sure on. I went to Melle Cloche to look at some accessories and decided I might as well try some dresses on. The dresses are of a really nice high quality and I was really pleased with the service. I fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on. My mum and I knew it was the one straight away’

Linsay finished off her look with the Beauty full length veil and her Mum’s pearl and diamond jewellery.

Glasgow brewery, WEST was where Linsay and Craig had their first date, so seemed like an easy choice for their wedding.

Linsay told WFIL ‘Our venue, WEST was where we had our first date. It was the only place we considered getting married. It is such a stunning building and it holds great memories for us.

We went full throttle with the brewery theme. We combined pastel colours for the flower decor with the wooden beer kegs. We had lanterns and candles on the aisle for our ceremony. We had single flowers in small brown beer bottles on the tables at the reception’

‘The music at our ceremony was beautiful. Ginny & The Tonic were amazing and their voices are just stunning’

Nadia & Gary

It was so lovely to see Nadia and her lovely family again when she came for her bridal appointment last year. We first met these lovely women a good few years ago in our old Byres Road shop, when Sheree (Nadia’s big sister) came in for her shoes and accessories for her own wedding.

When Nadia tried on the Allan dress at her appointment she pretty much loved it right away and when the curtain went back and her sisters and Auntie saw her in it, there was an overwhelming agreement that this was her dress.

It doesn’t happen like that a lot, but when it does it’s lovely!

Nadia and Gary had a very stylish city centre wedding at 29 Glasgow and her beautiful bridesmaids were in our Salma and Taylor dresses in the colour Oyster which complimented the cool and sophisticated feel of the whole day.

Rosa Clara

We're so excited to reveal that the latest label to arrive at Melle Cloche is world renowned Spanish designer Rosa Clara.

The Rosa Clará Collections are the result of her dream, a dream that goes back to 1995 when, after working for several years in the bridal world, Rosa realised that the sector was missing one of its essential defining traits: fashion. Rosa knew then that she had something important to do - to contribute more creativity, bring more innovation, and above all, more design flair to the sector.

spanish-wedding-dress-designer-rosa-clara-wedding-dress-reviews-spanish-designer-wedding-dress-l-86a0adff75b612c8.jpg

And after years of hard work and keeping focused on her dream, her first successes started to happen. Filled with great hope, new ideas, and relying on her creativity and careful care to detail, Rosa has been able to create beautiful and innovative collections that have captivated international markets. Rosa Clará knows she couldn't have not done this alone: the largest part of her success is attributable to her brides, who seek quality, high design style, and craftsmanship.

DSC_0702.jpg

Rosa Clara lauched their 2019 collection at Barcelona Bridal week earlier this year and the collection is filed with original backs, pronounced necklines, details carefully inserted in the dresses, skirts of great volume and subtle transparencies that will make you fall in love.

Charlotte Tilbury Event

We thought we'd share some highlights from our Charlotte Tilbury Bridal Masterclass that we had in-store last week.

There was Prosecco, cakes, wedding chat, makeovers, and lots of laughs - it was a rather fabulous night.

Sottero & Midgley Ariya

We took a day out last week to do a road trip to see the new Ariya collection from Sottero & MIdgley.

The Ariya collection is channeling old Hollywood glamour and sophistication and gives brides the drama they are looking for. The use of luxe fabrics like shimmering crosshatch tulle, lace, crepe and mikado give variety and added hints of Swarovski crystals and beads cascading over the beautiful fabrics give all the glamour.

Bridesmaid Shopping.

We were asked by Tie The Knot magazine recently what questions brides most often ask when they come for a bridesmaid appointment.  It was for an article they were doing as a guide to 'bridesmaid dress shopping' and I thought maybe it would help if we gave some brides a few pointers on here.

15941234_1417715254927664_1807921673630321891_n.jpg

Firstly it's quite a different experience from buying your own dress - you’re no longer just focusing on yourself but a whole girl gang and instead of maybe just your Mum or Sister’s opinions, you have do deal with different personalities, taste preferences and body shapes. Luckily, many of the tougher parts of the experience can be easily eliminated
with a little foresight.

Some helpful Do’s and Dont’s

Do - have an idea of the shade you want or at least have a colour pallet in mind - if you’re unsure then giving your consultant as much info as possible about your venue, flowers, kilts etc can help her make suggestions for you.

Don’t - make your bridesmaid wear a colour that they need to slather masses of fake tan on for - it may sound obvious but putting a pale red head in a pale nude colour and hoping a spray tan will make her look better, the chances are it probably won’t!

Do - remember that lots of bridesmaid dresses need altered and there will be a cost on top of buying the dress. Also bare in mind that some designers may charge extra for longer length and for dresses ordered over a size UK18.  (ask your consultant for more info on this)

Don’t - think that you have to have the whole bridal party with you on your first day out, if you think it will be too stressful then it can be easier to just initially bring a couple of girls to try on and then bring everyone back to see your faves.

Do - make it fun for you and them and arrange lunch and even a few cocktails between appointments. Well you’ve got to keep their strength up!

FAQ's

Q - What do I do if my bridesmaid is pregnant?
A - There’s no doubt about it, It's difficult to shop for a pregnant bridesmaid especially when you have no idea how big they're actually going to be by the time the wedding comes along. Not only is it important to pick a dress that can accommodate a baby bump but its important to make your bridesmaid feel comfortable and still look her best. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of dresses that lend well to a growing bump, some girls will order a dress in a few sizes bigger and hope for the best but it's all really guess work and can cost the bride a lot on alterations when the dress still doesn’t fit. One of the best dresses to buy for your bridesmaids is our Twobirds dresses - not only are they fantastic for pregnant girls but because it’s one sized it means that any change in size of your bridesmaids (be it bigger or smaller) then the dress will always fit.

download.jpeg

Q - What do I do if my bridesmaids don't agree on the dress?
A - It’s important to get input from your bridesmaids, after all they’re the ones wearing the dress and every bride wants their bridesmaids to be happy. It’s also your day and ultimately your choice so a bridesmaid should suck it up and wear what you choose but if you would rather have happy bridesmaids in a dress they love then a great option is to let your bridesmaids choose their own style from a cohesive collection in the same colour. Our dress ranges by Ghost and Rewritten offer different cuts and styles to suit all body shapes but in the same fabric and colour which gives a modern feel to your bridal party and lets each bridesmaid express her own style.

wedding-flowers-bridesmaids-1-of-1-2.jpg

Q - What dress do I put my teenage bridesmaid in?
A - This is always a difficult one for brides, especially if the girl is too old to be a flower girl but too young to be a ‘proper’ bridesmaid. Some bridesmaid dresses can be just too sophisticated and glamorous for a young girl so it’s important to keep it young and fresh - a good way to do this is to tweak a bridesmaid dress to give it a ‘younger feel’ Adding straps onto a strapless dress can make it much more age appropriate or cutting a full length dress to just below the knee can give your junior bridesmaid a cute look next to your floor length bridesmaid dresses (we're always happy to make suggestions) Leaving hair down with a bouncy curl and minimal make-up will keep it fresh and why not put them in a pair of converse to let them be totally comfortable.

Steffi's wedding featured in the amazing Rock My Wedding Blog and here's what she said about choosing her dress from Melle Cloche.

'I went dress shopping with two of my oldest friends, who I knew my style and would give me an honest opinion. When I went into Melle Cloche in Glasgow, sisters Jac and Lisa made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. We browsed the rails and I picked out 5 dresses – and it turned out they were all the same designer! I clearly had a style. I tried on a few but when I found out that Ti Adora were having a trunk show later with all their collection I booked straight back in. I ended up with the first dress I tried on, except in an incredible blush tone. It was the one. My bridesmaids dresses were also from Melle Cloche. I wanted something that would suit them all, and would suit a pregnant bridesmaid too! So the two birds dresses were exactly what we needed.'

Love your Curves

A couple of months ago we came together with some fabulous suppliers to create a beautiful photoshoot showcasing our range of plus size wedding dresses for the curvy bride.

Here are some of our favourite images from the shoot.

The model is real bride Laura,  who walked into our boutique last year to choose her own wedding dress. She was married earlier this year at a beautiful ceremony at 29Glasgow and we asked her if she wouldn't mind staying in the wedding bubble a bit longer and wear some of our dresses - thankfully she agreed!

All the dresses in our shoot are by Callista who have been creating gowns specifically for the curvy bride for many years. Constructed to accommodate the needs of the fuller figure in terms of style, support and the perfect fit - every effort is made to make every bride feel special and give shape to the curves she loves.

This collection is designed for bust sizes from 46 to 57 inches, in wonderful soft and light weight fabrics like Chiffons, Organza, embroidered Tulle and soft, floaty Satins. Attention to detail and fit is key with Callista and they even offer detachable halter straps, or straps wide enough to cover your bra - if only every designer did the same!

Laura beautifully shows of some of the latest styles from Callista including the Monet, Canaletto, Lorenzo and Boscoe dresses, which are all in various shades of Ivory, champagne and stone.

Our shoot took place at The Trades Hall which is a stunning wedding venue in the heart of Glasgow. The building was designed and built in 1791 and has a unique history with exceptional features and apart from the medieval cathedral, is the oldest building in Glasgow still used for its original purpose.

On the day we had a dream team of wedding suppliers, which I'm sure you'll all be familiar with - if you're not then check them out below.

Thanks to everyone involved and please contact us if you would like more information on our collection of Callista dresses or to make an appointment.
