Well we officially said goodbye to Albion Street a couple of months ago to move onto pastures new.
It’s been almost 6 years since we moved to Merchant City from our old shop in the west end and it’s flown in, it feels like only yesterday we moved all our little display cabinets full of accessories into a that huge bridal shop to take the plunge with wedding dresses. Most of our experience in Albion St has been positive, but with the awkward layout and 80% of the shop being in a dark basement it just didn’t work for us long term.
It’s always been a dream of ours to move to an open plan studio space and we loved the idea of having a cool, bright, laidback style space that feels less like a shop and more a relaxed environment that brides want to spend time in. So after a long hard search (during a pandemic of course!) we found the perfect place.
Our new premises have a completely different feel from the old place and although it’s a large open plan space it feels much more intimate than Albion Street. (Although we will miss seeing the lovely people of Glasgow giving a thumbs up to our brides as they walked past the window!)
We will be offering a more curated collection of dresses from our favourite designers and although we have slimmed down our bridesmaid collections we still have lots of choice for brides and still have our ‘ready to wear’ samples for brides on a shorter timescale and tighter budget.
We love the location too, it’s smack bang between Finnieston and Charing Cross so nice and handy for cocktails and dinner after you’ve been dress shopping (fingers crossed we don’t need to wait too long for that to happen) and being just off the motorway and a five minute walk from Charing Cross train station we’re nice and handy to get to.
So until we open on Newton Terrace, we’re saying a fond farewell to Albion Street and thanks for the memories!
Love
The Melle Cloche gals
